Gotcha. I think they are both amazing. I just like some of the internal GPS and bluetooth features more on the escort.

Where I live your either in traffic or your on the interstate, there really isn't any middle ground. That being said I don't need a radar detector anytime other than when I'm on the open road. I love my Valentine 1 for this.. It's range is mind boggling and the arrows are addicting. But, and it's a big but.... It is super sensitive to automatic doors and the radar units on some of the newer cars.

I agree. The Escort Live app lets you know where the threat is, as well.

What bands are you running? Unless you're in Oregon or New Jersey, you can kill the X-band.

Most jurisdictions phased out their K-band systems in favor of the newer Ka-band units, although some still use K-band, so you'll have to leave that on until you can confirm it isn't used, at least in your intimidate area.

I will give you an example, I lived in California for 21 years, CHP phased out their K-band in 2000 or there abouts, and most local departments have recently switched to newer Ka units when they bought new cruisers (killing 2 birds with one stone sort to speak).

I've been running Ka and laser exclusively in California for the past 13 years and my V1 was SILENT except when picking up radar, picking up a leaky detector (J-out signal, AKA junk), picking up false laser alerts or being painted by real laser gun. Surely if I drove through counties that I was not familiar with (mainly up north of Sacramento), I would turn on the K-band.

The latest V1 has advanced filtering against those K-band radar guided cruise control in some newer vehicles, so if your unit is on the older side, you can send it in for a re-flash. It should help to the greater extent.

^^^^^^

Agreed, I've killed X & K band for the last 10 years on my Bel RX-65 and only get Ka and laser warnings which have been what probably 99.9% of departments use anymore.

Looks like I'm the only one running escort redline Segmented for Ca and have 3 ka bands only on running escort live. I've tried out the max and it's not same range as a segmented redline. With escort live via Bluetooth even with loud music comes over speakers that has saved me few times. But on freeways I get 2-3 exits before I get to the CHP sometimes to far range but better safe than sorry.

LOL. I've found that it makes me more aware of my speed and that I'm less likely to speed, checking my speed any time it beeps. Even on the interstate when I will speed, I try to keep with the flow. I'm positive that I've saved thousands of dollars over the years with no fines or raised insurance rates. That's part of the reason I'm able to drive a higher priced car

can you explain how you "tapped" the power. I want that but it looks like its not just a plug and play thing so I went with the long wire

The REDLINE's range is INSANE !! Now that I have used the Max2 for a few weeks I like the upgraded options but when I am doing 140 the redlines slight added range would be great All the reviews always say the redline has the best range but the Max lines have more features and customization

There is a thread about tapping the wires, make sure you read which wires to tap. I've done these many years ago with my IS350 and my ISF so i dont remember which color wires. Things to buy Blendmount which model of radar detector you have. and a phone line with jack. Some electrical tape, razor to split the cord

Love this thing, snapped some pictures when I installed it today since I was confused until I got in there and couldn't find that thread. Very easy to do, took me 30mins because I did some things out of order. Could be done in 5-10mins now. Added benefit of the kit, the mount makes the release on top of the 9500ix hard to access making it harder to steal. Only tool you need is the included allen key.

Snapped some pics based on this kit below. This is on my 2011 IS-F, double check to make sure its the same on your vehicle (it most likely is). If you have small enough fingers/hands you could do it without removing the harness.

The pins slide in incredibly easy, plenty of room. Make sure you zip tie the new taps on to the rest of the wiring harness or they will come out as easily as they went in.
