Only differences betwenn Gen 5 & Gen 6 Nav are bluetooth streaming and HDD?
Just like the title says, is the only difference to the Gen 5 and Gen 6 Nav systems are the HDD vs DVD based maps and the Bluetooth streaming on the Gen 6?
If that's the only differences (no resolution or screen differences) then what have the Gen 5 owners done to mitigate the Bluetooth streaming that the Gen 5 lacks?
I'm assuming the maps portion would be the same if you get an updated DVD from the dealer which would put in on par with the HDD Gen 6 maps correct?

Ok, so your saying that there was internal hardware changes like a new and faster processor etc......
I've read about some guys having issues with their touch screens on the nav unit with the Gen 5, did that affect the Gen 6 also?

I think gen 6 adds hd radio as well.
As for Bluetooth streaming, I just use a cheap Belkin plug that goes into the 12v Plug in the console and run that to the aux port. Then I can stream no problems as long as I set it to aux. only difference is I can't use the car controls to change tracks, but it's not a big deal. You have to hit "something" anyway. Most of the time I am streaming podcasts so it's a non issue.
Be warned though that the aux input sometimes has a high pitched whine, but there is a $10 filter you can put on the aux cable to mitigate that. If you do that, I think it sounds quite good.

For a more integrated Bluetooth solution on the 08-09 models you can look into:
http://www.vaistech.com/site/sl3b.php
Or
http://www.gromaudio.com/store/all-toy.html
From my research vais are built pretty much exclusively for toyota/Lexus and grom is built for a wide range of manufacturers.
Both are very similar feature wise, they allow phone features, music streaming, steering wheel buttons control audio. The vais iirc will display text info on the nav unit whereas the grom does not

it's fancy, but you have to keep it connected. sl3b is more straight forward and wireless, but interface is not as fancy
i have done plenty of both, it really depends on what you want (features, connections, price, etc...)
