ISF Not Dead????
#16
I took my ISF in for service and asked my service adviser about the RCF's release date. He said he was going to be attending training for the RCF in early September and he'll also be training on the "new ISF". This is a guy who would know the difference between an F-Sport and a true F...
I was confused at the time, but now it might all make sense!

If it requires modifications to the engine bay for the new IS, I'd be surprised to see a new IS-F in the new chassis. Given the low sales numbers for the IS-F (around 1000 per year?), it really is just a halo car, and they already have a new halo car in the RC-F. A new IS-F would sell even less than the current IS-F did because it would be competing with the RC-F, and the RC-F would lose sales to IS-F sales.... so I don't think it makes sense from a business perspective.
More engineering expense for a low-volume car that will steal sales from the newest halo car? Doubtful, but then again, maybe there's justification for it just given that the RC-F is a coupe and they might want to have a halo sedan in the lineup still.
It makes sense from an awesomeness perspective.

Obviously, it's pure speculation at this point...
but...at some point in the future, isn't this (or something along the lines) going to be the plan moving forward??? Seems kinda like a no-brainer they would want a lineup of F's - ala M3, M4, M5, M6....C63, E63, S63....RS4, RS5, RS6...etc
Ultimately, it seems logical Lexus would offer a lineup consisting of ISF, RCF, GSF, LSF...and at some point, they'll need to introduce the new variations, redundant-ish with other models or not, right?
