Next gen F glimpse... press release today...

Actually, a late night axle replacement is the only reason they were not in the top 3.
"Earlier today, the Lexus IS F CCS-R team of Jeff Westphal, Tom Dyer & Ken Dobson finished 4th overall in the 25 Hours of Thunderhill endurance race.
Only a late-night axle replacement kept them off the podium — the team completed 659 laps, finishing just 3 laps behind the third place GMG Motorsports Audi R8."

Part of the reason there is no IS-F in the 3IS body style is because the 5.0 does not fit in the engine bay vs the ample space that's in the 4GS. When they built the 3IS they had no intention of dropping a V8 in it again. So the current IS-F will be the first and only IS with a V8.
It's very likely the next gen IS-F will be a Twin Turbo V6 to go against the M3/4 and ATS-V.
We're still looking at around late 2015 - 2016 for the new Twin Turbo V6 and V8 mills (probably debuting on the LS, LF-LC Concept aka SC/LC, and the IS.
Lexus Product Council said these Twin Turbo mills are supposed to be the most powerful and efficient vs the competiton

Was this reported or was this from your logic hoovey, because it makes perfect sense and finally answers why there will be no new ISF. Very surprised no one has been able to comprehend this before, instead of just bashing Lexus for no new ISF.

But if the trend now is Turbo 6 ie M3/4 and upcoming ATS-V then it's very likely (IMO now) that the upcoming TT V6 may find a home in a new gen of IS-F. Which makes sense if a V8 was not planned.

Lots of interesting info in this thread...
I'm sure the Chief Engineer of the F platform has some nice plans coming down the pipe line..
He shares the same passion as we all do for the "F" models.
Below was a great sit down with Yaguch-san for the 2012 Pikes Peak run
And another meeting we had together back in January 2012..

Yeah, I don't think the F line is going anywhere! I am, however, expecting Lexus to take its F line the F/I route at some point like Hoovey suggested. What we know is there are two more models coming on the V8 platform (RCF and GSF) and then who knows??
By the way, the Audi TTRS is a bad little car. It's priced very similarly to the ISF with NAV, and with just a $900 stage one tune, that car can cracking off mid to low 3 second 0-60 times and mid 11s in the quarter-mile. I hear the stage 3 tune has the car under 3 secs and a quarter mile in the 10s. That is Turbo 911 territory.
