I had an HKS SSQV on my Supra in the OEM recirculating configuration and failed. Passed the sniffer with flying colors, but that one item made the visual a failure. I left the state not long after that. I was sick of the stupidity and the hidden taxes and while the weather is great, it's not enough to offset the pain.
I had my smog check done last month. I'm bone stock but have a RR-Racing AOS. The shop popped the hood and told me, if I want to pass, I better uninstall that. They didn't know what it was and they didn't care, but they just knew it was not stock, so they were going to fail me for visual inspection. Took the AOS off and passed.
Passed smog legally today with the Bazooka catback, didn't have to pay the tech or anything. I originally told the tech I was concerned that it wouldn't pass and asked him to just take a peak and see what he thinks. He did a visual and looked it over a little and said everything should be okay so went through with it and it passed. He checked the catback but not the headers so maybe next time I can sneak by a set of headers but just put the stock exhaust back on

Cool I'm gonna ask the tech to do the same quick check but I have headers and catback lol.
Truthfully, if you're not throwing any CEL or other lights, any smog check location will do. I'd invest in a code reader too, just in case. I've been going to the same guy for all my cars for years, and while he knows about the mods, he knows as long as it legally passes (previously with the sniffer and now recently with the OBDII scan) that's all that matters. Some of the OC guys have a preference on who to go, so I'll let them chime in.
