Warranty denial due to custom headlights. Opinions needed
#17
I had a similar experience with a dealership not honoring a warranty on a headlight. My car was in a light front-end collision (hit an animal), which caused the front LH headlight to require replacement. It was taken directly to Lexus to be repaired, and they replaced it with a new headlight. Well about a year later the glass has actually started to bubble where the high-beam is (I use the high beams a lot on country roads with no lights), and when I tried to take it in to get fixed they said they wouldn't warranty it since it is not an original part. WTF?? Obviously they didn't install an aftermarket headlight, and if it's an original OEM Lexus headlight then what should it matter if it's the original one that came on the vehicle or one that they replaced themselves? They will use any excuse possible to get out of doing a warranty repair.

We mod headlights for people all the time and FIRST THING I TELL THEM IS IT WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY.
No dealer in their right mind will warranty something after you heated it up and put it in an oven!
This is where the risk to play has to be weighed. Same goes for many things we do to our cars. IF you want to do crazy stuff plan on no warranty.
