Question Best tyre size for 2009 OEM wheels.

Hi guys,

I tried to search for it, but I don't think there's a thread or any answers for this. I was just wondering what would be the optimal tyre sizes for the 2009 OEM wheels?

The stock 225/40/19 and 255/35/19 don't seem beefy enough to handle the power even in the car's stock form.

I'd also like to keep the speedo as accurate as possible.

I'm looking to change my worn PS2s to PSSs this coming spring.

Thanks in advance!

How do you drive your car? Strictly street or street and track? At the track - road course or drag race?

Tire selection has everything to do with application, and little to do with what will fit.

Thanks for the replies. I don't think I will ever track the car, so it will be used strictly on the street.

the posted thread would be a great read for you, but if you are strictly street and going for some additional stick and aesthetic appeal then

255/30ZR/19

285/30ZR/19

this fitment fit great for me with no issues rubbing whatsoever. Conti's and hankooks tend to run a little tighter specs though.

^^

That combo of tire sizes gives a pretty limited selection for matched tires.

I just purchased the continental extreme DW, 245/35/19Z for the front, 285/30/19Z for the back thanks to Lou's thread above. I've looked around for a quite a bit, performancetrend.com had the best price I could find for today, with shipping came in at just over a grand.

Continental ExtremeContact DW 285/30ZR19 XL 2 $496.00
Continental ExtremeContact DW 245/35ZR19 XL 2 $414.00
Subtotal $910.00
Shipping & Handling $103.44
Grand Total $1,013.44

Prices aren't too bad ^. Make sure to give us a review and pics once you get them on.

Its really day to day on the pricing, I found the rears for 150 a couple weeks ago but missed out on them! Be cautious that you don't accidentally purchase the Y rated version of this tire, as its a different tire altogether.

^^^^Actually the "Y" rated tire is the correct tire. The "Y" rating is the highest speed rating currently in existence. Depending on how it's embossed on the sidewall it's good for up to 186MPH or in excess of 186MPH. The Continental DW is good for 186 MPH and has a "Y" rating. I think Sean meant not to get the Continental DWS which is an All Season Tire and also has a "Y" rating.
