Default Mods=better MPG?

Hello everyone. For those of you that have done intake tubes or exhausts or both seen any improvements in gas mileage? Curious to know especially from those that have done an exhaust system that deletes the secondary cats. Thanks

Technically, mods that free up the cars breathing should make the whole process a bit more efficient, and thus slightly increase fuel economy. In reality though, the more aggressive sound of the exhaust will likely cause you to play with the throttle more, and this will more than negate any efficiency gain. If you left the car on cruise control though, you might get a bit better MPG.

Of course, nothing has changed with the reality that the power you make is directly proportional to the amount of fuel and air the engine can take in. If the engine can take in more air, then the ECU will accommodate the change and feed the engine with more fuel. So, these mods let the engine breath in more air, but you are still using more fuel to make the additional power.

even with the JoeZ intake and exhaust combo, i find that MPG isnt really affected. even when i punch it on a long stretch on the highway, 20-23 is still pretty decent for me. at least theres no gas guzzler tag on the car, which easily is about an entire year's worth of gas before even hitting the gas station.

For a while I was averaging only 14 mpg all city driving, aggressive, manual, and sport mode. Now, I usually just drive in auto mode, no sport, less aggressive, and I get 16-17 mpg... all city.
