Default F sport filter and K&N

Is there a difference between the two or no?

K&N is most likely oiled. Some people like them, but it's easier to just go with the factory part.

you could've easily googled.

K&N is not "Most likely" oiled. it IS oiled. That's the very definition of a K&N.

F Sport is dry, non oiled.

Well, if we could just Google things, what purpose do forums serve?

then why have Google? just ask the forums. everything.

every forum has a search feature (a forum's own google) and typically a stickied thread that says search before you post.

just saying your question was a very simple one that could've been handled with a very basic google search, not its own brand new thread.

Clearly I was informing the OP that it is most likely oiled to lead him in the right direction. It would be great if the community was a little friendlier and try to be nicer to those who are less experienced or "newbies" to the car scene. No need for hostility or shoving a search button down someones throat

Well it looks like both E46CT and mjh09e have the factory F-Sport filter, so one benefit is that it is a factory part and technically covered by the factory warranty. Sounds like the safest bet for a drop-in filter.

You can google it. really its not going to make a difference at this power level. its just cool factor and cost benefit of just re-washing your existing filter. Oiled has a chance of getting oil all over the expensive air flow sensor, though some say if you dont apply to much oil, you will be fine. Most don't have a problem with oiled filters. probably only people that put way too much. i chose to go with lexus.

here's a link to the 3IS 250/350/200t K&N filter: http://amzn.to/2eXPftS
