I know very little about this stuff, what exactly is a tune? I had a "tune up" done on my old beater and I did feel the car handled much better, but they way my mechanic explained this was basically repairing old worn out parts.

A tune would be altering the ECU maps in order to revise things like air-fuel ratio, timing, etc. Typically, this is done to better accommodate aftermarket modifications, i.e. intake/exhaust/headers, but sometimes, for a car that is very conservatively tuned from the factory (i.e. Lexus), gains can be seen on stock cars as well. That said, Toyota's ECU's are notoriously difficult to crack, and I don't believe we've seen very many (if any) really viable options. Also, while aftermarket tunes can make significant increases on turbo'ed cars, the gains are much more nominal for naturally aspirated engines such as the IS350.

Companies such as RR-Racing and TTFS currently offer an ECU tune for the 2IS350 but both have not developed a tune for the 3IS350 at this time.
I anticipate that a higher rev limit with a broader powerband available for 1st and 2nd gear should get the 3IS350's 0-60 time under 5 seconds.

Results (see dyno below): 10-15whp, and 10-15wtq.
We feel that one of the biggest improvements was raising the rev limit to 7000rpm. As you can see from the dyno graph below, we managed to keep the power steady all the way up to 7000rpm! This means "more area under the curve" and better acceleration. Some on-the-road testing yielded a 0-120mph time of about 17 seconds... that's not to shabby, and it beats or equals cars like the Acura NSX, and BMW E46 M3!

Cheaper and more efficient to sell it and get something else, ISF perhaps if you want Lexus. I mean 3IS 350 and 2IS F are not that far out for used quality cars.....like 2014-15 350 and 2010-12 ISF
The only cars I rarely tune are turbo, cheap, easy, big gains, and doesn't void any warranties
