Changed mine within days of having the car...these things get nasty; I certainly would not want a washable one. $13 at pepboys for the "better" one they carry and I'll check it a few times a year personally.
On the topic...just did the AC duct / vent cleaner as well on my car...very much reccomend. I constantly have my ac and/or fans running and now they smell so much better.

one thing i noticed about the aftermarket filters is they have quite a few less pleats. anybody have a recommendation on an aftermarket filter that has the same pleat density as the OE filter?
