Honestly, if he has a Toyota dealership, look at a manual FRS. Nothing like driving a manual when you are young and single. The driving dynamics of an FRS are far superior to either the IS or RC. Also, I would never let my 16 year old drive a 300+ hp car as their first

I agree 100%... plus you have a ton of things you can modify on the FRS to keep you busy for a couple of year. But if you're set on a Lexus get the RC.

he brought an auto FRS home for me to drive and theres no room in it and it feels cramped, plus if i do get the IS it would be a 300 not a 350 most likely for my own sake i wouldn't want to start out with 306 horsepower if I'm not going to use it all

I'm 22 and my previous car was an evo x. I leased an is350 for the sake of reliability plus it had the comfort + sportiness when I wanted it. I regret it. Very boring car to drive... might be less boring if it had a manual. Feels heavy and just has no excitement to it. If you want a quick feeling car with all the luxury and comfort features then sure its a good car. I always say the is350 does everything very well, but in my opinion doesn't excel in where it matters which is driving dynamics. Since you're getting it for free basically I would take the RC over the IS. The RC350 looks great with a drop and some wheels.

Congrats btw. But knowing your situation, keep your dads RC. You don't need a 4 door car right now. My dad bought me an RX-8 as my first car. It worked out fine. Have fun and drive safe.

Whichever you choose congrats, you'll have fun, becareful though 300hp is enough to get in trouble if you're wreckless.

Love the comments on this thread! Some definite good input, especially in regards to first time driver and horsepower. Then again, when I think about that first car so many years ago I can't believe my Dad helped me buy a '68 442 with a 455... and I was worried letting my 25 yrs old son take my new IS350 for a spin.

I would say get the IS. The RC indeed does look better but it's slower than the IS since its heavier. The IS is also more comfortable and more convenient with the four doors. Trust me when I say you will need the 4 doors. I'm not that much older than you. I'm actually in college and having all this space comes in handy. Unless you plan on purchasing another car in the next 5 years or something, I say get the IS.

Keep the RC. I would if I were in your shoes.
