Why does some people buy IS250 instead of IS350?
#61
At my local dealerships, there was only a $3k difference between 250 to 350, so it was a no brainer. Acceleration on the 250 felt the same as my 2002 automatic acura RSX so for sure we were going to take the 350. now that the newer turbo models closed that HP gap, I can definitely see why it would be a tougher choice.

Lots of factors, credit, down payment etc and the major factor is the month payments. Most people I see drive these cars is base on the L badge on the front and could careless about horsepower. And I am in Connecticut

exactly
bought the car for my wife and a 350 would be wasted on her. hahaha she would never ever need that much hp. so i took the slightly higher mpg and put the money towards the packages.
she was also coming from a 99 camry 4 cylinder, so the IS250 felt like a sports car to her.
If i was buying the car for me, I would have gotten the 350 without thinking twice.

I remember when the Camaro IROC Z28 had about 215 horsepower and an RX7 or Nissan Z were slow as hell
Porsche 928 used to be 7 seconds 0-60
Theres no reason you can’t enjoy an IS250. It’s not underpowered, it’s just that there are insane engines available now for some pretty basic cars so almost everything is fast and some cars are rockets.

It's alive again after 7+ years!
Since it's been resurrected I will add my brother and his wife have a 2012 IS 250. It's just fine and gets good gas mileage.

Closing, as I think common sense can answer the question in the thread title anyway...
