hi all as you all know i am a big lexus fan and anticipated the is200t and gs with high regard.
drove a eminent white no nav non f sport today with the upgraded rims. below i will highlight some interesting take aways from the test drive so buyers and enthusiasts can get a sense of a real perspective with someone that is one of the most particular with new cars

1) eminent white is beautiful stunning and the fit and finish of the is is brilliant, amazing build quality
2) the car driving dynamics in normal mode driving is fantastic the ride / handling mix is great and very comfortable driving chilled.
3) i sat in is 350 f sport and for some reason felt more room left to right today with is200 nice elbow rest on left arm
4) drove 14 miles all city driving and getting on it which i will share thoughts below got 17.5 mpg city
5) car handled great didnt beat on it around corners excellent handling dynamics
6) the 8 speed and turbo were surprisingly fantastic is it perfect no.. is it a home run yes perfect balance of smoothness and power and a hint of turbo lag when kicking it down but very minimal lexus did a great job of power train. as good as n20 bmw 4 no close overwhelming yes little less power kicking it down my car has more power in the higher rpm range probably because bmw underrates horsepower mine is probably close to 280 not 240 advertised
7) fit and finish great
8) radio for the base unit very good not ml but blows my 5 series unit away in power for a base system
9) the car at 42k is a lot of car for money as good as my 13 cpo 5 for 31 k no but i think lexus scored a home run they really put time to get the powertrain right.
10) the steering wheel above the finger controls has a material almost fake rubber plastic thats a joke for this price range. someone internal should have there buts fired for this one unacceptable
12) i did give the fit and finish a 9 from 1-10 but some of the materials for a 42 k car could be more opulent.. above the radio it is a lower grade leather or plastic looks cheap.. some of the shapes in the dash to the right are getting old looking...
overall i give this car a 9 from 1-10 and the gs200t will be a homer

forgot to mention nvh that people had some concerns, is it quiet and as smooth as my ls430 no.. car for a 4 is insulated well and sounds good. for a small 4 turbo they did a great job insulting noise
also popped the hood. the motor looks brilliant they spend time making it look great with nice materials..

and one last think important.. all those is 350 fans out there, this is not the car for you to exceed expectations.
this is to be competitive in the marketplace for the average buyer looking for good performance with good economy balance. car has plenty of power. most average drivers driving it won't know its a turbo its smooth.. but flooring it and the is 350 buyer is not what lexus was going after... the market is the buyer looking for refinement and readability instead of bmw and germans

read my review and then read the other review of 100 people that are clue less with powertrain refinement and experience with turbo 4's
this motor/tranny combo is very very good and well needed.. and if lexus did what i think they did can go 150k without hiccups.

it's very simple really. there's an edit button on everything you post. the ironic thing is if you use it, it will allow you to edit anything you write. if you were to use the edit button on your first post, you could highlight, copy and paste (if you need instructions on that, i can provide that for you as well) your 2nd, 3rd, and 4th posts and attach them to the first post. then you can use the edit button again for your recurring post and use the delete button to remove your posts.

and i'm not an english teacher...no disrespect to them, but i'm an aircraft integrated avionics technician that's is firm believer of the 10% rule.

15 is350 f sport. the other cars i looked at were the bmw 335i m package and audi a4

17.5 mpg??? that's horrible. the new eminent white looks way better than the starfire pearl and ultra white
