NEED HELP: 2014 IS250 Luxury (base model) Grille
Hi,
I just got an almost brand new 2014 IS250 and wanted to change the front grille to something like the F Sport grille. I done some research and apparently the F Sport grille won't fit directly onto a base model Lexus? Does anyone know why it doesn't fit and if there's a simple way around it? because after comparing both in person, the cut outs for the grille look almost identical.
I've seen that a front bumper conversion is a solution but that can be very time consuming and costly.
I appreciate any sort of feedback, just trying to understand the car better as I'm pretty new to modding a Lexus.

The grills aren't swappable because the non F Sport grill has a pinch point that is lower than that of the F Sport grill, and the non F Sport grill is also wider at the bottom. You'd either have to look for an aftermarket solution (limited) or swap out the front bumper as well.

couldn't one (or a qualified shop) modify the f-sport grill to fit the non-f-sport bumper?
edit: nvm -- the non-f-sport is wider at the bottom.
i'm surprised an aftermarket company hasn't come out with a f-sport style grill for those non-f-sport owners who have the non-f-sports for any number of reasons, e.g., the luxury package, but dislike the non-f-sport grill.

Someone posted a link on here previously to some aftermarket grills, but they were pretty awful in my opinion.

Do any of you know rough costs for a bumper conversion? I'd rather not replace the whole front but if it fits in the budget and there's no other choice I will definitely have to consider it

^As said you'd have to change the bumper. These aren't that much on eBay (or even better, local craigslist) used if you're savvy and know how to shop for used parts. Collect them over time and make a project out of it. Broken tab? Fix it. Otherwise a full blown conversion at a body shop using brand new Lexus parts will cost you a pretty penny. If you're going through all that trouble, you may as well do the facelift swap.

Hey Mate ! the non-f-sport car isn't that bad, their bumper is unique for a non-sport version of IS series, save 1300$ and get your own unique front lip kit and full lip kits lower the car suit it up and make your own style ? trust me the Aftermarket conversion will not be so great , i don't know about New South Wales in Aussie but in Canada people flooding with F-sport so 90% you'll see F-sport on the road

I prefer non f-sport front bumper...a wider more squared off and lower look (especially after lowering the car).
The grille is not as good looking as the f-sport but the other is not outstanding imo anyways. Plan to recolor my entire grille gloss black.
Here in San Diego, California they are ALL white or nebula grey f-sports.
All that $$$$ youd spend just to make it look like every other IS? I'll never understand. (However I do like that new one on the 300 with the horizontal beams all the way down )

Sort off on a tangent, the only car I believe in the lexus line that could swap grills out without issue would be the CT200H (I had a 2012 CT200H F-Sport SE a year or so ago)
I wanted to swap out for the F sport grill on my LS a while ago but as stated above, would require also - to remove and replace the entire front bumper, fogs, etc.
