IS350's 3.5 L V6 is being replaced by a 3.0L for 2016?

Whoa whoa whoa. Just because the displacement is the same, does not mean it's the same engine.
the 3.5 in the RX350 is the same as the ES350 and the Camry.
The 3.5 in the soon-to-be-released tacoma is completely different, it only shares it's displacement with the other engines.
The 3.5 in the IS350 is shared with the RC350 and GS350.

2GR- FSE 3.5l 6cyl longitudinal mount for RWD, AWD (RWD biased) drive trains
2GR-FXE 3.5l 6cyl Atkinson cycle used in the hybrid platforms
4GR-FSE 2.5l 6cyl longitudinal mount for RWD, AWD (RWD biased) drive trains
The Tacoma will have the 7GR engine which will be 3.5l 6cyl Atkinson cycle engine, probable in a longitudinal mount configuration to mate with the truck platform.
They all share some underpinning components but they are different engines and different configuration based on how they mate with the drive train.
The 2.0l 4cyl twin scroll turbo engine in the NX is made to mate to a FWD platform, and probably looks to replace a lot of the 3.5l FWD platforms (ES, RX, etc). No news on when that engine will be available and what It will replace for the RWD platform.

I am now in a dilemma whether to pull the trigger on the IS350 or wait for the MY'16.
I hope they bump up the power on the IS350's engine, as some one pointed out earlier, to 340Hp and increase the redline or bring in the TT capability.
The GS350, with which IS350 shares its engine, is expected to be facelifted/upgrade, both outside and inside. So, I hope the same would happen for IS, on the inside.

Agree with this folks. Thank you all for bringing a host of possibilities about changes to the IS into this thread.

I shall pull the trigger!
Pull the trigger now and you have a great car to drive now. Wait, and make a decision based on whatever new Lexus announces and you will have a great car, but it won't be until way late in the year. If you don't like what they announce, you can still try to get the remnants of the 2015MY inventory at a bigger discount. If you can wait, it's a win/win scenario other than choice of colors and options from inventory.

The purpose of my post was to present it from a cost standpoint, the 3.5 transverse and longitude share many common parts which would make sense for toyota/lexus to keep the 3.5L engine and continue develop on it. I would imagine they will stick with a similar displacement (or smaller) since the new Taco has a 3.5L from a new GR generation.
