3IS Radar Detector Buyers discussion

I was eyeballing the Max, but some folks who upgraded from 9500 or other older models are wishing they had their old unit back. I'm not sure what's going on, it seems some of the units are working fine but lots of defective ones being reported over on the forums.

I bought a used v1 radar and I do agree with some of the posters. I got a lot of false alarms with my v1 and Audi's make my v1 go crazy too. I thought I was the only one who had that problem! Maybe it needs an updated firmware?!?

I run a Bel STI Magnum right now but my buddy has a Escort Redline and likes it. I drive into Virginia so I had to have an invisible detector. It's done well by me and payed for itself many times over. I am not impressed with the detectors distance, even though they say it's one of the longest on the market.

I think I already chimed in on this but I would say the V1 as far as the false noise, there is a little but I know what the sound is when it is a true radar gun or laser... So I would rather have the warning than no warning and a ticket.
I actually had a HP officer try to show me how slow the radar detector was by going into his car and plugging it in, and then turning the radar on. It was rather quick and he was impressed with how quickly it warned of the radar...
Long story but I ran out of gas awhile back and we were waiting for AAA...
