So I was thinking of picking up the G1WH, rated one of the best bang for the buck dash cam.

The only problem is that it looks like it needs a cigarette lighter to power it. From some Googling, it seems most, if not all, dash cams require a cigarette lighter. Of course, the 2014 IS don't have cigarette lighters and I don't want to hard wire mainly because I don't know how and don't want to pay someone $100 to do it. I would much rather run a lengthy cable. Would the USB port in our glove compartment be good enough to power a dash cam?



EDIT: I am embarassed. After having owned the car for over two months, I just found the cigarette lighter.

I've ordered a BlackVue DR550GW 2-CH system, am waiting for it to ship and can't wait to install it. I've also got a Power Magic Pro unit coming along with it so I can hard-wire everything into the fuse box that's located under the driver's side dash.
