Here in Texas, 87 is running anywhere between $3.49 and $3.59 a gallon, 93 however is $3.89. 17 gallons of 87 at $3.59 is about $61.40 while 17 gallons of 93 is $66.13. If that whole $4.73 savings is worth not driving your car the way it was meant to be driven, then I think you need to invest in maybe a Honda or something that runs on 87. Stop being a cheap-o. You drive a nice expensive car, its time to act like it.

The choice to use premium gas over regular 87 is a very right thing to do. However, this Lexus and Accord example in this instance sounds a bit weird to me. What I mean is that I totally disagree with the notion where buying Lexus means Lexus owners should not be trying to save money. Buying Lexus does not mean that the driver is wealthier than that who bought Accord or vise versa. Yes, as I said before following manufacturer's requirements with respect to the use of specific types of the fluids that we put in a car is important. The same would be the truth if Accord required the premium gas. But saying that buying Lexus means saving money is being a cheap-o is just plain wrong! Another example is that Lexus owners don't have to service their vehicles at Lexus dealerships that cost both arms and legs. The service can performed anywhere as long as the proper parts be used. In fact owners can do that themselves. It is pretty simple to maintain Lexus, just keep the records.
