Back in 2IS, I had this idea of importing the whole side mirror with moors but it would be quite expensive to do that. A NA-spec "fully loaded" side mirror (auto dimming, auto tilt, powered mirror but non-power folding) costs around US$600 and upward each in 2006. So I won't guess how much it would be for the power folding counterpart.
Of course, the 3IS side mirror is possibly cheaper --- if you take out the side mirror apart in 2IS and 3IS, you will find the 3IS has less number of parts and it is way easier to disassemble.
Also forgot to mention you need a different switch plate on the driver's side to have the button to power fold it…
So I have been manually folding the mirrors for years...

Why don't we have this as an option in the United States!? The IS is direct competitor to the BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class, all of which have same! :|

Also look at what Lexus Canada did to 2013 GS and 2014 GS. In 2013 GS, they omitted the power folding mirrors which were present in the previous generation of GS and in 2014, they make it available in a "technology package" for 2014 GS350 AWD.

Just like what jhs82 said, it is available outside North America. Maybe sourcing from Taiwan and some left-handed drive countries in EU?

Yes, this is what I told Lexus Canada for years and they only listen to what the great findings due to their own marketing research. It is plain stupid.. at least gives people an option to add.

Another simple feature that is available on most if not all Acura since 2008. It is so useful to save your wheels when parallel parking. I bet the guy who decided to stripped out this feature is stuck driving the company's Corolla so he never care for it.
