SPOTTED: 2014 IS350 F-sport in bay area
so i spotted this when i was driving to work on I-880 northbound right before High St. this morning...
i had passed the car up not knowing it was the 3rd gen isx50 until i took a second glance. i merged on to the slowest lane just so they can catch up enough for me to snap some shots. right when they pulled up to my left side by side, i rolled down my windows and gave them a huge smile with a thumbs up and yelled "NICE CAR!!" the gentlemen inside reciprocated and waved back.
the car was filled with 5 people and (from what it seemed like each had laptops) there was a fairly large antenna on the right front passenger side with wires running to the back of the rear right passenger side. i think they belonged to lexus corporate and were probably road testing (not sure)
initially, when pics came out a few months ago it didn't really appeal to me. but the more i started reading and watching reviews/road tests, the more it grew on me. what really appealed to me was the LFA inspired electronic dash.
don't get me wrong, i still love my 2013 350 fsport but it definitely has some competition w/ the 3rd gens coming out.

So now we see what it would look like lowered. Interesting.

District plates on that car.
Not many have mentioned this, but it's going to become more and more common. When lowering, the S+ feature will essentially be neutered rendering only the Sport useful, if someone goes to coils. Springs will still work. Another issue is the LED DRL's. Anyone who lowers knows that the bumper tabs can get damaged and hence misalign the bumper. As the DRL's are crafted perfectly in place this could cause problems. We'll soon see, but I think the 3IS will be less mod friendly

Pole Position
I'm not sure I follow. When you lower a car, the entire chassis and anything attached (DRL) comes down with it. What does that have to do with the DRLs being perfectly in place? They are in the same relative position to the bumper and everything else except the struts.

Note: This car looks good because it has tinted windows (all around) and is low-riding due to the techs inside. It is common standard that tinted windows and lowered suspension make ANY sedan instantly look better. I'll reserve final judgement when I see a stock car in person. Chances are the 4x4 look will take away from it, like it has with many recent additions.
So far, this new IS has me going in all directions. Stuff I like and other stuff I don't.
