Default AFS Off Light Blinking 2008 IS 250

My AFS Off light came on randomly on Thursday. I checked both the rear and front AFS sensors today and both were intact and not mechanically broken. My car is not lowered, so that is not the cause of the AFS Off light to come on. I tired to get codes read but since there is no check engine light on, nothing came up. Has anyone had this problem? I've been searching all over the internet for answers, and most of the time, the causes are either a broken sensor or due to lowering the car. I'm thinking about replacing the sensors and hoping that would fix the problem instead of taking it to the dealership.

Here are pictures of the front and rear AFS sensors.

This is a common issue and has been discussed many times before. I realize you said that you're not lowered, but that's not always the problem. The only way to actually check if the AFS sensor(s) is bad would be to use Techstream. Your typical code scanner will not read the code because it is manufacturer specific. If you Google "Techstream" I'm sure you will find the information you need. It's possible one of your sensors was bumped out of operating range and needs to be adjusted. Please reference this link: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sus...nf210-s-3.html There's a post showing pictures and a diagram of the sensors with the info you may need to get things working correctly.

I adjusted the rear AFS sensor all the way up, all the way down, and in between; however the light has no gone away. Doesn't seem like the rear sensor bumped out of range.

What I adjusted up and down.

Just checked the AFS fuse and it's still intact; replaced with a new fuse but AFS light still on.

It is possible that one, or even both, sensor(s) has gone bad. The only way to test if there is a fault would be through Techstream. A bad sensor will not give a CEL, but the AFS light will blink. When connected to Techstream, a code will show when a Health scan is run. I would put jack stands underneath the control arms while the car is sitting on the ground. I realize this is rather difficult given how low these cars sit. Then jack up the car and take the wheels off. Lower the car back down onto the jack stands so your car sits at ride height again. Then adjust your sensors. Maybe setting them in the middle of the range at about the "half-way" point. Jack the car back up and put your wheels back on. Then remove the stands and lower your car back to the ground. Start your car and wait a minute, then see if the AFS light is still blinking. Sorry, I'm not sure how else to go about diagnosing the problem other than that. Try to adjust the front sensor as well. You may just have to give in and go visit Satan. Those sensors are a nice chunk of change to replace. If I remember correctly they're about $400 EACH!

I adjusted the rear sensor from middle position to half-way between the lowest setting and the middle position and then to the lowest position. I did the same from middle to top. This was done with the car on a flat surface not jacked up (I crawled underneath the car). I did drive around the neighborhood with each setting adjustment but the light did not go away. I guess I can try adjusting the front sensor tomorrow. Running out of options...

Hi
I'm not sure if this will help but, you never know.
There was a post about a similar headlight sensor problem on the UK Lexus forum.
Its here .... http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/for...comment-970189
Have a read through. I hope it gives you some pointers. Maybe you have a corrosion issue inside the sensor too?
Hope you get it sorted. Things like this can be a right PITA!

At the dealership. Turns out the R/F speed sensor is faulty causing the AFS off light to come on as well. Total cost: $679.13 😭😭😭😭
