i suppose it all comes down to how long you wish to keep the car. carbon buildup issues are common as you already know, as are issues surrounding the navigation system and rear breaks.

i was one of the unlucky ones to have problems with the automatic transmission when i was a 2IS owner and i was very thankful that i had purchased that warranty. i had about 52k miles on the car when the transmission had some major issues and had to be rebuilt. the engine also had to be worked on more than once, although i'm not sure if that was covered under the csp or whether i would have had to front the cost after the initial engine rebuild.

anyhow, i was thankful for that extended warranty. that said, it cost about half of what you are being quoted.

Yep the warranty rates varies from dealer to another. I went to Lexus of Santa Monica and he quoted me for $4200. Lexus of Beverly Hills was around $3475 and lexus of Glendale was around $3100 so shopping around is the best.
Thanks for the referral. I'll call tomorrow and see

no problem, although i'd recommend shooting him an email or talking to him directly because other finance managers at lexus of san diego gave me prices that were majorly inflated to what he quoted me at (and what i eventually purchased).

good luck!

Do you guys think it is worth it to extend it considering how expensive it is ($3100 for 4 years/50k)?
Do those cars develop more problems after the 100k?
You can see it that way; higher mileage = higher probability of car having an issue. After all, a car is made of parts and they all get tired at some point.

From what you say, it would be 60$ / month for piece of mind. Did you experience any issues with the car? Did you buy it new? I guess you know your car so you can tell wether it has been reliable or not so far.

I took extended warranty when I bought my CPO and I already used 50% of what I paid in one trip to the Stealership (1500$ with labor). Car was making a small noise and it ended up being the whole steering shaft.

Let us know what you choose and why.
