Strange headlight issue
I purchased my 2006 IS350 in September 2014 and a few weeks later I noticed my driver side headlight was out. After turning the lights off and on the driver side headlight would turn back on. Thinking that maybe I needed to change the bulbs since the car was about 8 years old I purchased a new set of Xenon HID bulbs from KB carstuff. After about six months the same issue started to occur this time it was the passenger side that was randomly going off. To check to see if it was indeed the bulb and not the ballast I swapped the bulbs and the issue followed the bulb. The bulbs were replaced under warranty and fast forward to December 2015 my passenger side started to experience the same behavior. When this occurred I didn’t swap the bulbs to test and for whatever reason the issue seemed to go away after a few weeks. Now during the past few days my driver side headlight started to experience the exact same behavior. Question I have now is should I just go ahead and replace the ballast or replace both bulbs again? At this point I’m just ready to upgrade to 2011-2013 headlights or maybe even after market if 78 works releases there’s soon to the states.

I also bought Xenondepot bulbs from KB car stuff and had one go bad after about 1.5 years.
In my opinion, that is pretty bad for the price of the bulbs, plus the hassle of swapping them.
Instead of buying a replacement from them, I got a set of knockoff Phillips D4S bulbs form China for $30. Haven't installed them yet, but hopefully they last longer.
