I Remember following that guys thread on the Novel Tune for the ISF and even though the rev limit increased, and he swore he made more power. It was all false in the end and it did nothing.

I wish i could believe this, but sadly this has been a false alarm way to many times for me to get my hopes up anymore

Novel has been offering a tune in Japan for a while now... They use a SARD tuning solution, who is the only one known to have the capabilities through their networking to do so. Novel/SARD offered to tune USDM ISF's last year, but there was very little interest due to the price (~$3500 for claims of ~40-50whp gains). In the past, their tune was a "one size fits all" when it comes to if your car had no mods, headers, exhaust, etc. They didnt have a separate tuning file for different modding options.

I'm at work and cant translate the page, but I am guessing this is a JDM ecu tune only. USDM and JDM ecu's are different, and thats why they needed multiple ISF's to test the tune for USDM ISF's in the past.

So I see these OBD2 plug in tools that are claiming 40ft-lbs of torque and 25hp, is this complete BS then? I mean, that's pretty much "too good to be true territory" for an ECU tune. Sorry, some of the youtube videos and literature seem quasi-legit

The OBD-II tools (vr-tune, etc) are all snak oil. The stock ECU will flash it back out of the system after driving XX-miles. Its been verified by club lexus members. One only gained 7-whp with it, before it flashed out i believe. Dont waste your money.

The SARD/Novel tune has dyno evidence in Japan of decent gains, and SARD is not one to lie about this stuff (they have bigger ambitions as a company). The USDM ISF tune linked in original post seems as though he gained nothing, but the USDM tune was not complete when he recieved the tune.
