Trans Problem
Hey Guys,
I have a 2008 IS250 RWD. It has 140K miles. Runs great. Here is my problem.
If I'm driving down the freeway in between 75-79 mph and I get on the gas to pass someone on the freeway it will down shift but it delays, the rpms go up to 5000 and then it will violently slam into gear making the tires chirp. If I get out of the gas so the rpms dont go up so high it still slams into gear its just not as harsh. Lexus San Diego told me it needs a new transmission for the sum of $5000. I paid $12,000 for the car. YES I've tried to reset the ECU and Lexus San Diego check the ECU for and updates. Does anyone have any idea how to stop this problem. Thanks in advance for the help.

You provided absolutely no information. Is there a DTC that the trans set? How exactly did you try to reset the ECU? It sounds like you don't want the solution to cost your $5k. I have a free solution, just push the car wherever you need to go. I'm only a Lexus master tech, so what the hell do I know...

What's a DTC? I unhooked the battery.
How have I provided no information? I stated exactly what the car does and at what mph.

That's a good question. I'll make an appointment with Lexus to have that done.

Been couple of week and I have change 2 quart of transmission oil from the pan and so far so good. No code. They only charge me $65 for diagnostics.
