Default Cost of Repairs - Exhaust and Cats

Hey all,
So my Lexus was in a garage for 2 years and I recently picked it back up and started driving it again.

after realizing my parents who were storing it drove it in the snow and never washed it, i now have corrosion problems everywhere, specifically the central exhaust pipe and the cats which now need replacing.

I am looking for advice on how I can cheaply get these fixed. Its an 2007 and barely worth the trouble.

below are the service center quotes...

REC. CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSY. (INSPECT
VEHICLE AND FOUND CENTER EXHAUST PIPE
CRACKED DUE TO EXCESSIVE RUST AND
CORROSION.)
Caution $3,035.10

maybe i can just pay to have this welded where the crack is?

REC. RIGHT SIDE ( PASSENGER) CATALYTIC
CONVERTER ASSY. FIRST FOR ANY FURTHER DIAG.
(INSPECT AND PERFORMED A HEALTH CHECK
SYSTEM AND IT HAS CODE PO 420 CATALYST
SYSTEM EFFICIENCY BELOW THRESHOLD ( BANK 1))
$2,339.20

REC. MANUAL TRANSMISSION REAR
EXTENSION HOUSING SEAL (INSPECT VEHICLE
AND FOUND MANUAL TRANSMISSION
EXTENSION HOUSING SEAL AND BUSHING
LEAKING OIL)
Caution $857.50

Any idea on an southern california auto shop that can do these, as well as a place to pick up some used parts to do it with? im really not interested in paying these dealer prices for repairs consider the car is probably worth 10k total.

any help would be appreciated!

thanks all,
-Phil

Sounds like an expensive fix. I would call some shops and see what prices you can get for replacement parts and labor. Shop around.

I've seen a number of posts from people who have done just that.

For a longer lasting repair, you'd probably be better off getting a good exhaust shop to cut out and replace the badly corroded sections of pipe.

Cats are expensive. Like others mentioned you can always get quotes at free of charge. Hell LA has got shops everywhere. Won't be expensive to replace pipes either

Cats are probably fine. P0420/P0430 occur because the exhaust leak increases the amount of time it takes for catalytic converters to light off, and the car runs the OBD2 catalyst efficiency test early in the drive cycle before they have heated enough to do so.

Any Los Angeles owners who have a trusted mechanic that they go to? I am going to take care of this in the next few days! the exhaust sounds like a fart cannon.
