Low-beam behaving strangely on IS250
Hello,
I just got my 2009 IS250 last month. I have a low-beam on the driver's side that is possessed.
After driving for about 10 minutes, it goes dim and then out. If i go in a store and come back out and start up the car, it's fine again.....for a while.
Now in my old Mazda6, a headlight is $18 and a 10-minute job. From the YouTube videos i'm finding on this board, I think those days are over! Egad!
So does this sound like a bad bulb, or a bad ballast/igniter?
Thanks!
Karl

I had the same issue, it's most likely the bulb, and the job isn't too hard. There are many DIY's on the forum somewhere lol just gotta look a little bit. Not difficult at all just need a couple basic tools! I did both bulbs plus drl and high beams all in like 30 mins ish!

Thanks to Basselc and qtmac!
I'm leaving on a trip tomorrow, so couldn't do it the right way (mail ordering a pair), so drove around trying to find the original Philips OEM bulb so it would be about the same color as the remaining one in the car. Finally found one place that had it, but sadly, still a very different color. I suspect the HID's shift color temp as they age.... At least I wont be getting a ticket from a rural Missouri cop for NO headlight.
One young woman told me that ANY replacement bulb would be the same color as the one I showed her. I told her that some manufacturer's bulbs would be a different color. She pulls one out of the box and holds it up to mine and pronounces, "It looks the same to me".
Forehead slap!!
Thanks again for the help. Although I'm a whiz at Google searches, I must admit the software on this forum eludes me for meaningful searches......but I'm still trying!
