2009 IS250 RWD Spun a bearing??
Hello. I was at a stoplight a week ago when my engine started to shutter, and when the light turned green, the cars acceleration was almost nil. I pulled over, turned the car off, and back on, and it seemed ok. I took the car to my local Lexus dealership to read the diagnostic codes. They asked me to pay for 1/2 the cost of the labor to remove the engine just for diagnosis (my cost $1450), to which I said no, so they agreed to pay that whole cost thankfully. The diagnosis is that I have a cylinder with a spun bearing and scored cylinder wall. Hence they say the whole engine needs to be replaced. I have 74k mi on my car so just out of warranty, but still... To me this is a defective part. I have always kept my car in tip top shape and have done all maintenance including routine oil changes. I have not had an oil leak. I think Lexus should pay for the entire repair. Anyone else have a similar experience? I had the top engine replaced last summer with their Service Bulletin about carbon buildup on the engine.

Thank you all. Lexus finally agreed to pay all costs for the repair! I'm not happy that they tried to get me to pay for it in the first place but when you stand your ground....
