Default Can anyone in Vancouver area fix non responsive touch screen?

I have an 2006 IS350 and I just got the dreaded touch screen not responding issue that I have read a bunch of people have had. Has anyone had this fixed in the Vancouver area by anyone other than Lexus?

My symptoms are touch screen doesn't work except on the Nav screen (it will center or something when you touch the screen) or on the Maintenance screen (it will go to language select). It sounds like the digitizer it the issue and I have read the fix about redoing the connection with a silver connector pen.

I still have to call Lexus to see how much they can fix it for but it sounds from reading the forums, they don't fix it but replace the whole unit. Has anyone had this fixed in the Vancouver area, and if so, how did you go about it?

If anyone has had this issue they know how stressful it is, any help would be great. Thanks.

I haven't had this issue since I have an aftermarket Chinese navigation unit... But I do have experience with removing and replacing the navigation unit and I did electrical engineering at BCIT, so if you can find a link (at work right now and don't have time to search for you), I can take a look at how hard the fix is and maybe we can work something out. I'm sure it can't be too hard.

I am in Kelowna and they quoted me $5800 to fix which seems insane.

I can get a new digitizer from amazon for ~$50 shipped and I think that is all that needs replacing.
