Saw this thread again and decided to check ours........ Wife drives like she is Nigel Mansell behind the wheel of an F1 Ferrari........ As I mentioned previously, I would be quite happy at 26.5.

Does she do lots of short trips? I find that kills fuel economy even worse than a lead foot.

You would be correct. Commute to work is only about 8 miles each way and it is all stop and go.

Finished my tank yesterday
I went 395.5 miles and filled up 12.967 gallons. That is 30.50mpg! The range showed 61 miles left when i filled up. The info screen showed 32.6mpg average, so there is about a 2 mpg discrepancy.

So there you have it. I averaged about 26mpg on my first two tanks and this most recent one netted 30.5mpg. Driving style between all 3 tanks were very similar but this recent tank had just a little more highway. This is not scientific and conclusive by any means, but it does show a good mpg bump by switching to a slightly higher flowing drop in filter. I chose aem because i think they make a filter that has the perfect balance between filtration and airflow to help with mpg and performance and plus it doesn't require oiling. I did not notice any performance gains. Im a fan, both my cars saw gains on the first tank with aem dryflow filter. No, i don't work for AEM lol I just want to share with you guys my experience.

Glad you are getting good increases in power and efficiency. It would be interesting to see what you get with a brand new OEM filter? I might have a brand new IS350 OEM filter somewhere in the garage. I will donate it for testing if you are up for it (hopefully it will fit the IS250 as well).

There was a brand spanking new air filter in the car before i put in the aem dryflow. Im not sure if its oem, i will have to check for toyota/lexus stamps.

Hi. Thanks for sharing this.

In your opinion is this better than K&N filters?

It's true. But i was cruising at between 70-75 on the highway with ac for most of this tank. 60 would yield even better results

Yes, no oiling, better filtration and has better balanced air flow. I'd never run a K&N

Talking

I'm also seeing about a 3-4 MPG increase with the AEM dryflow filter.
I have an '11 IS350.

That's awesome. Did this thread influence you to buy it or you already had one?

Winter was brutal and knocked my average from about 29-30 to 25-27mpg but i am driving more city however these numbers are still pretty good for this car.

I have been looking for new performance air filter lately but can't decide between f-sport and this AEM. Price is more less the same. Both are dry filters with no oil.

Does anyone know is there any major difference between those two?

I actually saw it after I had bought it. Glad I went with AEM though.
