Help! Car won't start... Any ideas why?
Car wouldn't start today. Has crank and battery is good. Did some research and saw that it has a less likely chance of a broken timing chain. But the way it was sounding as it was trying to start sounded like something broke. Other research told me it could be a blown fuse or fuel pump. Will check all fuses tomorrow to start the process of elimination that but in the meantime I thought of ask if this has happened to anyone.
Any guidance you can give would be helpful. Thank you much!

Thanks!
Thank you, MSWIS350. I actually took the battery out and took it to the auto store I bought it at. They tested it and concluded that the battery is good... I've only had it for a little less than 2 years so should still be ok.

I have a couple of batteries failed in less than 2 years -- I'm not saying the battery is bad, but just saying battery can go bad randomly. Do you have a recording of the sound? I would actually try to jump start the car with another car if that's an option; to make sure it's not the battery.

Tried a few jumps... Didn't work.

But it sounds like it's trying to make a connection but something sounds broken/ it sounds like something is spinning fast which made me think it's the timing chain which still could possibly be and only a shop/dealership could determine that but I want to try to factor everything out before I tow it somewhere to get diagnosed. And it has crank and my gas tank has about a 1/4 tank left.
My car is a 2008 IS250 model with only 61k miles. It was in perfectly good condition before this happened.

I don't think I have heard of timing chains breaking very often (or at all?) on these cars and that seems like a pretty quick jump to conclusion.
Have you checked for engine codes?

Transponders
Everything just seems so odd. It went from running perfectly fine to sitting on the street, useless. Someone had mentioned the transponder/chip in my key and it disabling the car to start. I'll be using my spare key to try to start the car in a little bit to see if this is the problem.

I don't think it's the starter if it is cranking over and I thought if the chip isn't present (or programmed correctly) the car would not crank at all.
Have you checked codes yet? Should be the first thing to check.
