New IS owner, Magical power steering.....
Hey all!
Happy to be a new IS350 owner. Bought a 2008 with 46,000 miles on it just last week. So far I'm stoked with the purchase except for one (semi) substantial problem.
While driving my P/S light will come on and I'll lose power steering until I pull over and restart the car.
I've pretty much read every thread on this forum about it and I haven't found any similar issues with a 2008... I know that the 2006-07 had the Rack and Pinion recall but I haven't seen anything about the 2008...
I know the HIDs were also an issue.. I don't have aftermarket HIDs and I've encountered the problem while driving with the headlights off even (not in AUTO).
I replaced the PS control module with one from Ebay and had the same problem the next day, so I'm thinking that's out as the root cause....
I'm dreading a R&P problem but is that the only thing left at this point ?
Thanks for your help in advance and I cant wait to become an active member of the IS community!

Well, sounds like you already did what I was about to recommend first...the steering control module. The only other thing I'd suggest BEFORE replacing the rack altogether is getting the car to the dealership with the light on to get them to check it out. Do not turn off the car when you arrive.

Update: After installing the P/S module and seeing the same problem I figured that it was not the problem...
I sold the old one and surprisingly the new owner contacted me saying that he was experiencing the same problems when the placed the module in his car...
Could it be that both modules were defective or is there any way that my car actually caused the ECU to break in both cases.... This is stumping me
