Default Putting rear emblems back on

Hello. This is my first post and I need some help. I'm not panicking but I'm trying to put the emblems back on the rear of my 08 is250. I've gotten all the gunk off from the original emblems and I went to autozone to get the 3m emblem adhesive but it's so messy and doesn't work well. I'm worried about using the tape because I don't want any gaps from the edges of the emblem to the paint. Can anyone help me out
Or clarify that the tape won't leave any gaps. Pictures would be awesome!

You're on the right track. You just have to cut it pre-peeled to the exact size. I used a little less on mine(skinnier) so the tape wouldn't show on the edges when you slap them on.

Do you mind showing us a picture of what you considered messy?

Like when I put the glue on and press it onto the car the glue runs out over the edges and just makes a heck of a mess but I don't want to use tape cause I'm afraid it will leave gaps.

do not use glue. Go out and buy some 3M double sided tape that will hold it on perfect and nothing to worry about spilling onto your paint. My trunk spoiler is held on by 3M tape so the emblems will not be a issue.

I used the double sided tape that is used for cellphones to hold the screen in place, held on perfect until I got rid of my car. Here is a link to something similar to what I had http://www.ebay.com/itm/331025073107?redirect=mobile

The only way to do this right is to buy 3m tape and prep the surface with alcohol. Then you cut the excess 3m off with an x-acto knife leaving a couple mm from the sides of the emblem. It is incredibly tedious and time consuming but the only way to have it look right.

If you skimp on the tape cutting you'll be able to see gaps when you look down at the emblems.

If you are talking about the one I used its about the thickness of 2 sheets of paper stacked on top of each other. It's very thin and very strong.

So there won't be much of a gap between the emblem edges and the car
