Default Need Advice .. Clicking engine sound. Not injectors.

I recently started getting this sound from my 2007 is250 AWD. (See YouTube link) My cousin is a mechanic and he said he thinks that it might be the timing chain alignment and that it would be a $$$$ repair. I currently have 75000 miles and no longer have warranty coverage. My extended Lexus Platinum Warranty expired last year I had 7/years 75000mile coverage but while it was under warranty I went to Lexus because I was getting low engine oil warnings often and Lexus had me go back every 600 miles or so to check they oil level and they said it was consuming normal amounts of oil. Fast forward almost a year later and I have this issue. My cousin thinks it could be directly related to the low engine oil level. Any advice or input would really help. Especially if it was overlooked by them.

Could it be the waterpump?
With regards to the oil consumption, have you ever had the piston rings replaced on your car? Lexus is still offering a 9yr unlimited miles for the Carbon buildup issue. Perhaps take your car to a dealer who have been doing a lot of rebuilds and let them know you're concern that your car is consuming a lot of oil and might be misfiring.

Waterpump? Not sure. Just going on what my cousin says? How can i narrow it down or confirm if its the waterpump? For the oil consumption, while on warranty, Lexus never did anything because they said the consumption was normal. Could this issue actually be related to the oil consumption or am I just wishful thinking because I don't want to get stuck with a huge repair bill? Also does the powertrain warranty get extened as well when the platinum care warranty is purchased. I had 7 years of platinum.

^Like everyone else said, I'd first point my finger at the waterpump. As most of us 2IS owners on here know, unfortunately the WP is the most common and frequently problematic thing on these motors (both 250 & 350). In fact, mine was replaced @ only 27k miles due to leakage!

Thanks for the tip. I went in for 4 recalls and mentioned that when i get to a stop and the car idles the idle sometimes gets really rough. That and my history of oil consumption i guess convinced the dealer to offer me the full rebuild without me really having to ask for it. They will have the car for 1 week and all at no cost to me.

Thanks Again All

UPDATE: Dealer performed the full rebuild as per the TSB. While working on it they called me offered to change the waterpump (source of ticking), fan belt and spark plugs. Since the engine would be open already they only charged for parts. So total invoice was 380$. I'm good for another 7 years

Thanks again guys ...

Great to hear! Make sure to break those new rings in proper when you drive off the lot for the first time.

Don't drive at a steady rate for an extended period of time right from the dealership. So I'd not recommend hoping onto the HWY and cruise at 65 for any extended period of time. It would be best to find a good length of open road that will allow to you have numerous changes in both RPM and MPH. I'd recommend switching over to manual mode and use the paddles to downshift to exhaust-brake the motor. The vacuum helps seat the rings, as well as quick throttle applications.

When I broke-in the new rings in my Hondas, I took to the back roads and would accel sharply (not to redline) and would then decel and downshift too (aka exhaust braking). I'd say a good 15-20 minutes of doing this would be best. And honestly, after I did the above on ALL of the motors I builts, not a one burnt oil thereafter...even my 400whp boosted one.
