Default Couple of questions

Greetings from down under! Sorry it's been almost 10 years since I last visited this forum so I'm not too sure where to post this (The last time I visited was 01-11-05, and I "drove" an '04 GS430... i was 16 then). I took the long way to Lexus and finally picked up a 2nd hand IS350 F-Sport at the start of the year. I just have a few questions for you guys:

1. Whenever the car is started cold, there'll be a loud clunk when I put it in reverse or drive. I can actually feel the car move slightly forward/backward even though the park brake is still on, and my foot hard on the brakes. It's like there's something in the drivetrain (a diff?) that's secured to tight, or the engine is running much higher revs than it's suppose to. It's much less noticeable when the car is warmed up though.

2. When I'm parking the car, have my steering wheel halfway or more to lock, and move forward, the wheel will naturally pull itself all the way to lock.

I've driven a lot of cars, including other 2ISes, and I've never had a car do either of these. With the first issue, the car never feels like it wants to move away, even if I have my foot lightly on the brake. With the second issue, the car will always "unwind" itself back to centre, even if I have the wheel all the way to lock.

My dealership's had a look at the car twice, and both times said nothings wrong and all is normal. Any feedback would be much appreciated!

For the first problem, it sounds like you have the cam gear problem. Have you brought the car in for the Cam Gear recall?

^The cam gear issue is during initial start-up, not while changing from P to D or R.

OP, do you park on a hill?

Thanks for your replies fellas. The car is always parked on a flat, garaged surface. Does anyone else experience these things?

It's a possibility one or more of your engine or transmission mounts has gone bad. I remember having that issue with my 94 LS400. Did you happen to perform a trans-flush?

Thanks for that, I'll make sure the service guys check it out tomorrow when it's in. I haven't done a trans flush though.
