OEM XM satellite 86100-0W150 86100-0W220 86100-0W230 IS250 2006
I had been having trouble finding kit to install OEM satellite radio on my 2006 Lexus IS250. After searching everywhere including calling salvage yards across the country I decided to modify a wiring harness made by Lexus for another vehicle they sell. The kit for my Lexus IS250 is part # 86100-0W150. This kit is different from the 86100-0W220 for later model of IS250 in that it has an antenna to install and the later models have shark fin antennas already installed. The wiring and the satellite tuner are all the same between 86100-0W150 and 86100-0W220. I was able to find the install kit for 2007 Lexus GX470 part number 86100-0W230. You can find the PDF files for installation of the satellite radio for both the IS250 and GX470 on the internet. There is also a good post on here regarding the installation in an IS250 with pictures included. I highly recommend this post:

Following these instructions, all of the installation as far as the plug in is the same except you will have one plug on the installation harness 86180-0W230 left over. It will look like this:

It is supposed to plug into a plug on the car that looks like the picture below. This plug carries the sound from the radio and to the amplifier and to the speakers. If you plug everything in except this plug you will see the satellite radio information on the radio but there will be no sound.

There are 5 wires on this plug. There is a black wire upper right corner and blank upper left hole. There is a row with 4 wires under it. The four wires in the lower row are black, white, red, and green going right to left. This is what they correspond to:
Upper right black wire = CSLD
Lower row (right to left)
Black = AR+
White = AR-
Red = AL+
Green = AL-
In order for you to have sound you must modify the connection on the 86180-0W230 wiring harness. I did NOT cut or modify any wires on the car. This is what the wiring connector looks cut open

This is the diagram of the radio the connector would have plugged into. Look at the connector on the far left of the diagram. You will see the top row from right to left labeled SGND, R+, R-, L+, L-. These are the wires we need to adapt to the plug.

VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!! Whoever made the wiring harness did not use the same colors that would have been used for the GX470 radio so we CANNOT match color to color. You MUST match pin position to pin position.
AL+ car connector is red in color and should be matched with L+ (pin 4 top row right to left in the male connector of 86180-0W230 and in this case white in color) see above picture of male end
AL- car connector is green. Match to pin 5 (top row right to left) also green in color
AR+ car connector is bottom row black. Match to pin 2 (right to left) and should be red in color
AR- car connector is white in color and should match to pin 3 on male connector and is black in color
In short match the R+, R-, L+, L- wires and DON’T JUST MATCH COLORS.

I ordered the connector number 90980-10797. It is just the plastic housing. You will also need to order the pins to put in the housing 82998-12340. You will need one plastic housing and 5 of the pins. Will end up looking something like this:

Once again after unwrapping the connector on the harness it will look something like this. The 5 wires you need are the only ones that actually run to the amplifier. The other wires just run from one plastic connector to the other. Cut the Y connectors off and wire the five wires coming out of the amplifier to wire to the new connector. Make sure the R+, R-, L+, L- of the wiring harness are matched to the corresponding pins in the car connector. ONCE AGAIN the wire colors may not be the same. In my case they WERE NOT. After looking at wiring diagrams, I think this is because whoever made the harness did not use the same colors as should have been used in the GX470 radio. If they had, the colors would have matched. I have no idea if the colors in all the wiring harnesses are consistent or not. So make sure you MATCH PINS NOT COLORS.

I had a welding shop make the Bracket for me. He used thin steel and bent it for me. The original bracket is asymmetrical. I made the width of the bracket to be 2 5/8 inches and the length to be 3 5/8 inches on the long end and 2 ½ inches on the shorter end. I do not know why they made one end longer than the other end. The length of the bracket from the short arm to the long arm should be the width of the satellite tuner. You will need to drill holes for the screws that hold the bracket onto the satellite tuner.

Also for whatever reason the keyless entry was place in at an angle as seen below. You will need to drill the holes for the keyless entry to go through. I had the machine shop drill as large of holes has they could on the back side, although I don’t know what those holes are for. The diameter of the holes is about ½ the bracket width. I read of some people just taping the two boxes together but I didn’t want to do that because maybe the space was there to dissipate heat or allow good reception to the satellite tuner or the keyless entry.

anyways, that's how I adapted the 86100-0W230 to work on a Lexus IS250. At the time of this post Lexus was still selling 86100-0W230. Maybe wiring harnesses from other makes that use the same satellite tuner could also be adapted. Took some trial and error so hope this post might help someone else trying to install factory satellite radio.
