I also think some of KaShiDC cons are not really cons.
The ding should be a pro since it is a car safety feature.
There is IS250 in manual.
When it actually step on the gas going full throttle, it usually downshift and zrooooom. I know some can talk bad about the IS250 being slow and all that but when you go full throttle, it still goooooo. On the IS350, from the stop, it REALLY Zroooooooooooommmmmmmm that you can feel the force!

The IS no longer offers a manual and has not for some time. This is the first automatic car I have ever purchased so I am sure it is partly an adjustment on my part. I agree, dinging if I failed to place the car in Park would be a safety feature. Dinging after it is in park does nothing except require a restart to get the dinging to stop, I don't see that as safety feature.

Someone (I'm not saying you) might shut it off in drive mode or reverse mode and next time the car starts right in that mode, then this situation is not safe and the ding can be a safety feature.

Unfortunately I did not know in advance that manuals were being discontinued until 2013, which was too late. I spent six months looking for a manual from almost every dealer in the mid-Atlantic without even finding a single one. I don't buy used cars simply because I take good care of my vehicles so I am able to keep them a long time. At least my truck is a manual but I think less manuals are being produced currently.

Thanks, I was really hoping it was that simple but it may be a personalized setting if your car works that way. I am going to see if it can be changed.
Once my car is shut off, even if I then place it in park before opening the door the signal continues and the doors won't lock unless the car is restarted. I think some of my settings were not standard default, this could be another but I am now hopeful it can be adjusted. Although I am getting better at selecting Park before off.

best:
-wing mirrors that aim down when put in reverse... so many of my friends are jealous that i have that feature...
-the fuel economy & reliability of the IS350 makes my BMW friends jealous...
-looks... classy yet still sporty...
-gauge cluster... although can't compared to IS300 or 3IS Fsport its still good looking
-the LED spot reading lights overhead... feels like i am on a business class on a plane reading a book... lol...
-the turn style power sunroof switch
Worst:
-trunk space & no fold down rear seats
-ML subs suck
-no MT for IS350 or ISF
-no LSD on iS350
-transmission jerky... had a camry, corolla b4 and driven Hi-Ace and other toyota product and this is by far the most jerky tranny...
-the toyota green lights on the center console... so out of place compared to the gauge cluster's blue and white look
-no power folding mirrors
