I've been wanting to get XM radio installed in my car. my 2006 IS350 has the option for SAT. i've contacted Lexus and they discontinued that part which means i have to go elsewhere and find the "right" part..

Anybody else looking to install XM in there car? and possibly know where to get the parts?

Parts are available. You have to buy them separate rather than getting the install kit. I just got a harness and bracket from Toyota/Lexus. The tuner I got off ebay so save $$ & I just recently discovered, since I have an 06, that I need the antenna so thats on order as well.

I got mine from oemlexusparts.com

The harness also came with cushion tape & zip ties, while the bracket came with screws, and a ground cable. I decided to buy an install kit for a Lexus LX570 off ebay for the antenna. It comes with a longer antenna giving me options of where I want to mount it.

So after doing some research/calling around, If you have the shark fin already installed that is your antenna. You need to install the tuner/harness and connect it to the shark fin antenna wires, But that's only for the IS owners who have the shark fin, And if you don't have that then you have to install like a receiver type of part in the trunk OR in the back of the car by the windshield

Correct. I just installed mine on my 06 & placed the antenna on the center rear of the trunk right near the edge.

I have the shark fin on my car but my ''sat'' doesnt work. What do you think is the problem. I press the ""sat" button and nothing.

07-09 cars have the antenna but no tuner. You'd need to add that to have XM functionality.

Understand this to be an older posting however, interested in knowing if the satellite tuner was installed by Lexus when vehicle was purchased, would it be mounted differently in a different location with different mounting bracket, than if the 86100-0W220 Mounting Kit was used, or is the same kit used by Lexus as well?

Lexus port/dealer-installed XM installations would use the same parts.

That said, there were revisions made to the kit over the years, and so different part numbers may have been used if it was an earlier installation, etc.

Jeff, thank you for thank you for follow up and confirming that the same kit would be used if XM was installed by dealership at time when vehicle was purchased. I appreciate it. Is the same is true (vehicle being wired for satellite but not having satellite tuner), with the GS model (2006 - 2011)?

I have the harness that plugs into the rear of the radio along with the tuner and antenna. Works for any Toyota Lexus made from 06-09. Msg me if interested.

Does anyone know if the harness is the same for all years (2006-2013). Some dealer websites say that part number is only good for 2006-2008. I didn't want to get the wrong one. I already have the module and the bracket with the ground wire.

Edit - I guess XM came on 2010 as ready equipped right? Some some dealership page said the harness was only good through 2008, maybe they had their years off
