Thumbs down Remote starter and SmartKey on 2010 IS250

Hello there! I need some help and I wanted to see if I could solicit your advice. I recently had a remote starter installed on my 2010 IS250. I've had remote starters before and they were great: one key fob to start/stop the car and to unlock/lock the doors and operate the alarm. However, on the IS250 with smartkey, it seems to work in a fragmented way. What I mean is that I now have to carry two different key fobs: the original lexus one and the remote starter one. Also, I can start the car but I cannot unlock it while it's running. These are both two very annoying revelations and the installation technician did not seem to know any solution. So here are my questions:

1.) Does anyone else have a remote starter installed on their 2010 IS250 and if so, do you have these problems?

2.) I currently have the Avital 4113 installed. Is this the wrong remote starter for this vehicle or are they basically all the same as far as functionality?

3.) Is there a work around or "program" that will allow the doors to unlock while the car is running?

4.) Is there a way to program the original key fob to operate the remote starter so I don't have to carry two key fobs around?

Thanks so much for your time and consideration. -Mike

1) I do not, but I am pretty proficient with cars and would like to comment on these things;

2) I've never heard of Avital before, but looks like a solid system; having that said, you are right in that they are pretty much all the same. Quality of some is better than the other, but a bigger factor IMO is the quality of the installer's work. The other thing that makes them different is some have certain features that others do not. I would say that prior to install your installer should have gone over these things with you and covered them off to make sure that you would be happy with the end result.

3) That is a question for the installer really - they should know the system's capabilities. With some units I believe you can program one way or another, and others you can not. Depends on what this thing can do. Another good pace to try and find the answer is in the owner's manual of the remote starter system.

4) 99.9% the answer is no. Notice I leave a small margin of error here of me being wrong...
