Hey guys!!! Long time!!!

I haven't been updating my threads and etc lately due to being so busy but here it goes.

My right rear spring on my JIC FLTA2 coilover snapped!




It isn't too bad meaning only a very small lower portion of the spring snapped and the rest of the top of the spring is now resting on the small cracked portion. YES this is a MUST to get fixed but I have no idea what to do in this case.

I had this motto which was "if it breaks, upgrade". In terms of ride quality I wished my rear was just a tad bit more stiffer because the JIC FLTA2 spec for the is350 goes for 12k front 7k rear.

Any insight on replacement springs? I have absolutely no idea if other aftermarket springs can work for my rear. Only other places I have heard from is swift springs company.

Anyone have any experiences?


1. What rear setup should I run? 8k? 10k? (I am more towards 8k to be safe in terms of shock compression from the dampers. Don't want to stress them out too much)

2. Anyone can point me to who to contact for something like this? Would they know the right fitment and size for me to purchase? Meaning is it nearly universal in terms of springs used on all types of coil overs? I pray the diameter of the shock is universal to lets say tein, bc, buddy club, so on...

Any help for something like this would be great!

OUCH!!!!!!!! Sorry to see. Do you not want to replace it with a new JIC spring? MAybe call BC and see if they can help if you don't want the same spring.

Dang dude this is crazy. You should call JIC, maybe they can work with you on a discount for another set . last year I upgraded my JIC springs to 14k front and 12k rear.

Coilover springs are pretty standard, there is about a 99.9% chance that JIC does not manufacture their own springs. To get a replacement from a different company you will need to know the spring rate you want (you probably want to stay within 20% of the original rate to keep your dampers happy) the inside diameter of the spring (often 65mm), and the free length of the spring (which you can get by removing and measuring the unbroken spring).

If you want to upgrade you need to take the above information to Swift, or possibly Eibach

thanks so much guys. you guys are the best. Always love the enthusiasm and support from this forum. Sure there are some trolls but thats inevitable. thanks a lot everyone for the help!

I set an appointment with one of the support members for JIC and he is actually close by near alhambra area! Didn't know JIC company was so close by to me


Will keep you guys updated. From the emails so far, they don't happen to have the same spec 7kg springs anymore and they suggested getting the 8kg for replacement for both rear struts.

Depending on the age of the coilovers, I would contact JIC. Springs should not snap like that. Sag over time,yes....snap,NO.
