Default Any idea what this might be?

So about a year ago, one of the lights in the needle in my speedometer went out, so I took it to dealer and they switched out everything for me, at no cost because I was still under warranty.
As they were doing it, they noticed something odd and gave me a call to ask if I had anything installed in there, and I said no.
They asked for permission to unplug it, and I told them if it did not affect anything, then go ahead.
I had this sitting in my trunk, hidding, for quite some time.
Before I do anything with it, does anyone have an idea what this might be or what it's for?
Here are some pictures.

If its in your trunk it's not an alarm. It looks like aims sort of GPS unit. I assume you don't have stock GPS?

Google cellemetry name,it shows that it can be used to track location.
I would guess that it is tracking device of that vehicle.
It could be installed to track where about of the car.

That is a tracking device that also has the ability to disable the vehicle...used car lots will use these if people default on payments, as it is an easy way for them to recover the vehicle.
