Possible alternator issue. Need help
So just the other day my car started randomly acting weird. I'd go to start it and it'd click and then drop all power like the battery was disconnected. This would happen a couple times a day and I can't really pinpoint a pattern. So I took my car to AutoZone to have them do a battery check and they said the battery checked out good but it was failing the regulating portion of the alternator test. The guy said I should start by checking the wiring going into the alternator.
I'm an electronics tech in the Navy so I've worked with a lot of electrical things. I just need a wiring diagram or something that can give me a reference and maybe the best possible way to access the alternator. Also has anyone else encountered a problem like this?

my car was making a constant ticking sound and it was caused by a failing alternator that was replaced. it didn't get to the point, though, where the car wouldn't start and/or would lose all power.

had this same problem with my prelude its definitely the alternator, just swap it out with a new one and you should be golden, just be weary that it may happen while you're driving and could lose all electrical power.

I inspected the battery and the positive terminal was a little loose so I tightened it. Hopefully it was the culprit. Any suggestions on a replacement alternator? I'm seeing the OEM one is like $500 :/

Go to Pep Boys. They can check your aternator for you, while it's on the car.
As for replacements....
Here is the link to Sewell (with our discount) and it's $417...
