Fast tap turn signal
Is this a setting the dealer can turn on? For those that don't know what I mean I am talking about pushing the turn signal lever down about half way and the signal flashes three times. My 02 and 04 Audis had this, my Mitsubishi had it, my wife's Hyundai has it, even my piece of crap Charger has it. I cannot imagine My 2011 Lexus doesn't have this option. Please tell me I'm overlooking something!

Sorry to revive an old thread.
I'm almost positive that this can be done by using the 3IS blinker relay. I haven't done it myself but someone has out there I'm sure. Any takers?

I found this http://www3.telus.net/s_mcphee/tappage3.html
but it doesn't list the 2nd gen IS. Does anyone know if we have the 8-pin Denso flasher plug?
It works with LED bulbs too!

My guess is that the wiper stalk and wiring harness would be different on the 3IS. The wiper stalk on the older cars latches mechanically when pulled all the way to signal a turn. Why would they put in a more complex switch and extra wires to differentiate between a partial and a full pull of the stalk, when the blinker module on the older cars does the same thing (i.e., blink), regardless of whether the stalk is pushed fully or part way?

The TapTurn has issues performing all of its functions on the 2IS because the turn signal uses the CAN-bus and is not active when the car is off (which is how the TapTurn is programmed). If you set the options like number of flashes, etc., in another car or manually with wires/switches it can be used in the 2IS, but it is not fully functional, which is why it is not listed as compatible on the website.
From what I've seen/looked at, none of the factory Toyota/Lexus options can be used on the 2IS, they are almost all done by the gauge cluster or similar and there is no separate flasher relay like we have.

I'm not a car electronics guy so I can't say positive...I mainly posted to get the community to start talking about it. However it seems like there are more complexities than it may lead one to believe.

If you plug the tap-turn relay into another toyota vehicle you can program it and it will remember the settings when you plug it into your 2IS. That is what I did with mine. I used my mothers Scion tC to program it then put it back in my car and now gives me four flashes to change lanes and it doesn't do the annoying illumination after you lock the car.
