Default 2011 2IS RPM Fluctuates at Highway Speeds

Hi, New to this forum and new first time Lexus owner. I purchased a certified pre-owned 2011 IS250 two weeks ago with 13.8k miles on it. I been noticing the past few days when holding steady at around 70mph on the freeway and the RPM is at about 2200 rpm, the RPM needle jumps around +/- 200-400 RPM's and can feel the car when it does that. Any other RPM's above or below the 2200 RPM range its fine. Anybody ever have or had this issue?

does it happen during slight grades (up hill/down hill slopes) or even on perfectly flat road?

It does it anytime I'm cruising in the 2200 or so RPM range on a flat (level) highway or on grades maintaining that RPM. Doesn't happen in the city cause I'm contantly changing speeds.

the only thing I can think of is the torque converter locking and unlocking but someone with a more in depth knowledge of the 2IS transmission probably has a better/more accurate answer. sorry.

This only happens when Im on the highway and Im going up on a slight incline, its the cruise control adjusting the RPM to maintain the desired speed. This has never happened to me on a flat road

The torque convertor is unlocking, and /or the transmission is shifting back and fourth between fifth and sixth gear to be able to maintain enough torque to maintain vehicle speed.

Nothing to worry about.

Switch the display on the dash to the mode that shows the gears and try to get it do it again.
Easiest way to see if it's actually switching gears.

I remember when I first got my IS it did something similar too, but then i figured out it was just shifting gears to maintain speed.

But why would it be switching back and forth if your driving on a flat road with no inclines?

Was it raining? Crowns/ruts?

I know when there is standing water and have it on cruise control, sometimes there is enough water there to slow the car down at the freeway speeds (I normally keep it on gear position) that I see the car switch to maintain the speed.

It happens when I'm driving on a flat, rut free freeway cruising a steady 73 MPH and tach at about 2200rpm. Its not shifting on its own. The tach fluctuates and I can feel the engine stutter when it does that. But any other speed it goes away. I'm stumped. Might have to take it in to see if they know anything about it. It doesn't do it constantly. Like every 30 seconds to a minute.
