Offset Question

I am curious on this one too. I am running 18s and looking to go with 18x9s on the rear. I have read that a set offset will not necessarily work with any wheel. Seems it depends on the way that the spokes of the wheel are curved? Some wheels I have searched fit in a 45mm offset, but others don't . Very difficult topic for sure.

Most wheel companies only make 9.5 not 9. Wider is always better. U could run a 9.5 in the front and 10.5 in the rear with a offset around 25 to 30 with out any problems. So if u run a 9 your offset should be around 20 to make it flush. I use to have a set of forgestar wheels and they can make whatever offset u what.

firstly, most wheel companies can make whatever width a customer wants - as long as money isn't an issue. most wheel companies, however, do stick with standard wheel diameters and widths because they are either the easiest to sell, have the highest profit/cost ratio per wheel, and/or are the most popular size(s).
second, is wider better? there's a point of diminishing returns, because as the wheel width increases, the window of useable offsets decrease. on the outside, it's the wheel vs. the fender. on the inside, it's the wheel vs. suspension components. also, unsprung weight of wider wheels and tires actually bog down the car and possibly affect the car's handling negatively.
also, wider wheels are typically more expensive (albeit marginally) than their narrower counterparts. same goes for tires, assuming certain sizes and widths are actually manufactured/available.
btw, 9.5"/10.5" +25 or +30 will require some fender work, along with running narrower tire sizes. if the "will these wheels fit?" thread has taught the 2is community anything, it's that any flush fitment will require fender work.

Hi, guys I will be running ESR SR11's 18x8.5 (fronts) with 225/40/18 18x9.5 (rears) 255/40/18 I will be lowering my 08 IS250 in BC coil overs approximately 1.3inches in the front and 1.2 inches in the back. I just want to get rid of the fender gap I don't plan on slamming the car since this car will be driven for Auto X events, it will not be a daily driver. Will they fit ??
