fresh air making grinding noise
I just changed my cabin filter last week. Followed all directions, especially putting it in recirculate mode before changing. Everything worked very easily. After changing got really good airflow in recirculate and fresh air.
Today when I started the car and put it in fresh air mode I was getting a grinding sound. On recirculate it is quiet as usual. What did I do wrong? I did not force anything. It worked okay for
a week.
Your help is appreciated.
Cheers

Is the grinding sound happening while the fan is off or on? Or with just the outside air coming in?If the fan is on, I've seen a few times where debris or leaves may have fallen into the blower motor from removing the filter, and the grinding is the rustling of debris/leaves in the blower fan. You might have to check the blower motor, that's beneath the filter/filter tray, by using an angled mirror, like the dentist use, after removing the filter and the filter tray, to see if there are some debris in there.

solved it
yeah. I opened everything up again and it
seemed like the filter tray was not seated all
the way around evenly. The spinning motor must
have been hitting it. Anyway, reinserted properly and
now it is back to normal. One other stupidity. The
black little panel that goes over the filter housing....
I dropped it between glove box door and housing.
I guess i"ll have to take the glove box apart. Yikes
