can I use 18x8.5 rims all around on my 350?
i have a 06 is 350 with optional 18inch ISP wheels that I dont really like. I found a used set of the oem is 350 wheels online. However all four wheels are 18x8.5, is it ok for me run those wheels all around ? if so what tires do you recommend for the front?
i currently have this setup now:
front tires 225/40/18 , front rim 18x8
rear tires 255/40/18, rear rims 18x8.5
i currently have this setup now:
front tires 225/40/18 , front rim 18x8
rear tires 255/40/18, rear rims 18x8.5

for AWD... yes same wheel and tire size all around is recommended.
As for the RWD IS350, it will work to have 18x8.5 all around... but honest to say.. no sense in staggering your tires on wheels that are same around.
if you plan on keeping your tires staggered... i;d say stick to the staggered wheels.

I probably just get a proper set of staggered wheels for ISP mode.
Sewell has them.

its not going to really make a difference, nothing you will notice ive run them both ways on the highway and city and i cant tell the difference. The RWD SC430 comes stock with the same size wheel and tire all around and i switched to 2IS staggard since i figured this is what RWD was designed to have and no difference again. For now use your 225s when they are gone do the same size all around so you can do rotations at your oil changes. I did 235-40-18 all around on 18x8.5 and i didnt have any issues.

It won't but it could affect the way the car performs because the offsets is differnet. The 8.5" wheel stock is 50mm while the 8.0" front is 45mm.
The other is that it can look a bit funny looking at the car looking at the wheel from behind as if it does not seem to match in relation of the car. With 8.5" wheel using a 225, you are opening where the tire meets the wheel will even be larger than before and the lip stick further out of the tire, while 8.5 and a 255, it would be just slightly in of the tire. Unless the wider rear wheel is there, cosmetically, the balance is not there in comparison to the front.
Also have to consider the the track distance between the wheels as well as the car was designed to run in particular setup.

its a half inch on each side, no normal person is going to notice. and no performance on a daily driver will not be impacted since i ran both set ups on two different cars both RWD for long periods of time and when I switched back and fourth noticed nothing. Now if you track the car then yes using measuring of performance im sure there is an advantage to the staggered set up which provides a wider graps on the road on the rear on a RWD car which is producing the power from the rear of the vehicle. The tire is temporary and will save the OP some money, no need to waste good tires when its time for a change DO get the same all around. OP if you PM me i might still have pics of my 2IS with 18.8s all around on 235s looks like every other stock 2IS when you walk up to it. Im sure if you have two of them side my side and closely inspect it you might notice the difference. Good luck!

Opps, I miss-read that you did not like - thought you said liked.

True, no one will notice if one is not in tune of the car. For me I'm more detail oriented and in tune of the car, so I would notice.
For one thing, with the stock 18" F-Sport with 8.0 and 8.5, I'm already in the back of my head noting that the rear wheel needs to be 1/2 in wider to bring the wheel lip out to match that of the front because the wheel on the front, the lip just sticks a little bit further than the tire while on the rear, the lip is just inside the tire. Several people asking me why does front tires appears bigger than the back. I had to explain it to them that it appears like that because it is the wheel's width on the rear even thou the tire on the rear is bigger. Since these are being used as my winter tires, I'm not worried about it much.
Since I plan on getting 19", a 8.0" front and 9.0" rear for summer tires, the 9.0 will make the lip stick out further than the tire which would match that of the front. Co-incidently, it's the same wheel sizes which Lexus recommends for the F-Sport forged wheels for the 19".

Forgot to add, well if you're going to get the same all around, get AWD, sort of makes no sense, and vice versa. If it were because of doing this for winter tires, ok that's reasonable, but for the summer tires, no way.
Of course you don't want to make the car look dumb by making RWD lookiing like an AWD, just saying.
Plus, since we are owning a Lexus, we don't want to be cheaping out on things like this; might as well get a lower end car if we're going to be doing this.
