I have actually asked for the power train warranty and it was expired through their system. I am just still shocked that there were these kinds of major issues on the 2IS when the IS300 was pretty much a bullet proof 2JZ motor. Either way, Lexus definitely has some awesome customer service.
Agreed, over the 4 years I owned the car I was shocked at the number of problems I had, not just with the engine, but dash problems, headlight units leaking, paint issues requiring a bumper to be replaced. Kinda made me wish I picked up a used IS300 since I know the 2JZ would still be going strong.
On the warranty being extended, it's weird I can't find any mention of the 250 getting it till 100k, maybe the advisor was wrong. Either way, dealer experiences can be completely different, I tried to get the problem resolved at Magnussen's in Fremont and not only did they not fix the prob, they tried to charge me $150 for diagnosis after not even doing anything. This was after buying the car there and having all work done there. I took it to Putnam in Redwood City and the guy kept the car until he could approve the repair for me.

Not only do I love how Lexus deals with situations that are not normal wear and tear components, but this will/may work on other car manufacturers. You purchase a car from them because the car will work. Once it stops working within a short period of them, you complain. If the process was done in a well and/or professional manor, you may get the same results. But at the same time, dealer to dealer is different.

Addition update on the first post. This is getting more frustrating when you know that Toyota/Lexus is well renowned for high quality products and great reliability. Sadly, I am on the line of questioning if I trust their designs. I am hoping that these major issues get resolved professionally by Lexus.
