Default changing temp without having AC on possible?

This is dumb but if I want to adjust the amount of air being vented into the car I have to turn the AC on to adjust the temp, then turn it off. Why the hell shouldn't I be able to do this with it off?

Just to clarify, do you mean adjusting temp without the A/C turning itself on?

If yes, then Lexus can do it because it is part of the TechStream options - I have it disabled. I don't like having A/C turn on by itself when I turn on the car or if I adjust the temp too low, it turns it on when I already had it turned off.

Sorry to bump an old thread. How do you adjust the techstream ooptions? Is it only at the dealer?

I would like to know as well. It's bloody cold out and when I turn the heater on, the a/c kicks on automatically. Drives me insane

- Adjust temp

- Press A/C button to turn A/C off. Temp stays the same.

Works fine for me..

yes, you have to go to the dealership to do this.

However, as explained by Sango, its better this way; otherwise your A/C would turn on/off by itself to constantly adjust for your temperature. It would kinda be like if auto mode was left on permanently

Same here. Sometimes I missed the temperature **** on my older cars.

Turn A/C on. Adjust temp. Turn A/C off. Gets annoying because most of the time I like to have air coming from the outside and the A/C off.

I HAVE A SOLUTION WITH THE AC ALWAYS BEING ON. You have to buy the Toyota tech stream cable on ebay for 25 dollars. When you load the software and connect it to your car there is an option to stop the Auto AC. So now when I press the AUTO button it just turns on full heat. OR whatever I had it on before.

Yeah, I would say bring it to the dealer. Since one would be there, the owner could probably change other car options which are only done by TechStream as well.

Hondadna4's option is also a good one as well for DIY users.
